Ohio Student Mobility Research Project Cleveland Area Profile

Student mobility is the phenomenon of students in grades K-12 changing schools for reasons other than customary promotion from elementary to middle school and middle to high school. In 2011, Thoughtwell and the Thomas B. Fordham Institute entered into a partnership to conduct research on student mobility in Ohio. The research employs descriptive and analytic statistics to analyze more than five million Ohio Department of Education student records over two school years to provide a picture—presented in spreadsheets, maps, tables, and reports—of student mobility for all Ohio public districts and buildings and public charter schools, with in-depth analysis for the Columbus, Cleveland, Cincinnati, Dayton, and Toledo areas.
